Leadership by committee? Bring your voice to the Commanding Burlesque Showdown

by Violet 12. December 2014 06:53
“Voting is a right best exercised by people who have taken time to learn about the issues.” – Tony Snow

Copyright The commanding burlesque showdown is back! We have all heard the impassioned, and sometimes very heated, arguments in geek circles. Who is the better captain; is it James T. Kirk or Jean Luc Picard? What about other captains found in television, books, and movies? We have ten captains to put to the test and we aim to settle that little score. And then some with your help. Who will you promote to commodore?

“Watch and learn, kids.” – Unknown

Worlds' End Burlesque Revue: An Evening Inspired By The Works Of Neil Gaiman

by Violet 4. February 2013 02:15

CopyrightAs the reality storm comes to a head seek refuge at Worlds' End and stay for the stories

Join us for an extravaganza of clever and sassy homage to the many worlds of Neil Gaiman, a prolific writer with notable works spanning comic books, novels, children's books and stories, television series, and film. With genres ranging from fantasy to science fiction and the occasional epic children's tale, the stories you'll see are quite diverse.

The tales involve a goddess, Beldam and her doll, the heart of a blue box, a young woman who is far older than she appears, an enslaved faerie, the very essence of dreams personified, and more.

Performing for you on these June nights are Ms. Vixen Valentine, Kendra Hayes, Candy Apples, Miss Violet DeVille, Ivy DuPri, Czech Mate, Miss Penelope Rose, Morgue Anne, Stella Vaughn, Lana Milk-n-Honey, and Pacific Syren. Lilith von Fraumench will help us navigate the troubled skies and find safe haven.

Monstrous Burlesque returns to Belltown!

by Violet 31. January 2013 20:57

CopyrightThe month of March is a month with a reputation: It comes in like a lamb and goes out like a multi-headed beast that wants to devour the lamb, the children, and that little old lady who lives down the block because she can't out run it. Oh, it also likes to show off its sexy self.

Okay, maybe it's not quite like that but we're certainly bringing the sexy beasts to Belltown on March 9th.

Purple Devil Productions presents Monsters, Merkins, and Mayhem. It's an evening of burlesque and belly dance to show the month of March that we are not the lambs to be lead to the slaughter.

America vs. Spaulding

by Violet 1. January 2013 20:00

You're aware of Captain Steve Rogers, yes? Perhaps you're more familiar with his persona, Captain America. The eternal soldier. The boy scout. He's here to deal with Morgue Anne and he needs to put a stop to his nefarious plans. Perhaps he should be more focused on his competition, the homicidal clown and patriarch of the Firefly clan, Captain Spaulding. What will the proprietor of the Museum of Madmen and Monsters bring to the stage? We're certain it will be most fowl.

The Morgue Anne and Nikola Nova face off against Kitty Calamity in the throw down of epic proportions. Captain Royale: A Commanding Burlesque Showdown this Saturday at the Re-Bar.

Who will you choose?

Ten captains. One reigns supreme. Vote early. Vote often.

Tickets are available at Brown Paper Tickets.

A busy September a head

by Violet 4. September 2012 05:10

Good evening my lovelies!

It's September and I'm writing this in a coffee shop after returning from the 70th annual World Science Fiction Convention in Chicago for ChiCon 7. I had a fantastic time and introduced a whole lot of people to the glories of nerdy burlesque or, as we like to call it, nerdlesque. Being home after a long trip alwaays feels so good. Especially after rolling in the rhinestones and glitter. (I'm not sure the cats ever appreciate that.)

But let me give you a glimpse of my upcoming shows of Lust.Love.Lifetime, Debauchery, and NERDZ! More...

NERDZ!

by Violet 13. August 2012 19:13

"Nerds, like us, are allowed to be unironically enthusiastic about stuff. Nerds are allowed to love stuff, like, jump-up-and-down-and-strip-off-your-clothes-can't-control-yourself love it. When people call people nerds, mostly what they're saying is 'You like stuff.' Which is not a good insult at all. Like, 'You are too enthusiastic about the miracle of human consciousness.'"

- John Green said something like this. Sort of. We think the boobies are an added bonus.

Purple Devil Productions presents...

NERDZ!

Epic. That's really all we can say to describe this evening of nerdy burlesque by some of the nerdiest performers around. Fantasy action and video games, Muppets and classic science fiction movies are just the tip of the iceberg of the nerdy topics that we have up our collective gloves.

Leading us in this romp is one of our favorite nerds, Violet Wilde. She'll be leading this team of explorers, celebrants, and geeks, in all things nerdy.Copyright

  • Scarlett O'Hairdye
  • Sailor St. Claire
  • Whisper de Corvo
  • Violet DeVille
  • Paige Rustles
  • Nathaniel Johnstone
  • Tempest
  • Morgue Anne
  • Bolt Action
  • Stella Vaughn
  • Scandal from Bohemia

This is one epic evening.

In fact, the evening is so epic we're doing twice the nerdiness over two days! First on Saturday, September 22nd, where doors open at 6:30 pm and the show is at 7:00! Then, then on Sunday, September 23rd, is an encore performance on at 6:30 pm and the doors open at 6:00 pm!

But wait, there's more! The truly fantastic gaming store Card Kingdom is joining the fun and they've assembled a prize package that only be described as amazeballs and we'll be giving one away each night as a part of our raffle. Surely, you're not going to want to miss out on this!

Tickets are $18 at the door and $15 through Brown Paper Tickets.

NERDZ! at the Rendezvous Jewelbox Theatre
2322 2nd Avenue, Seattle, WA

Share the love!

Update: We just added the amazing Scandal From Bohemia to the line up! We are very excited for this!
