Hello my lovelies!

September is almost here and that can mean just one thing: Schools are going to be coming back into session soon. Why not celebrate this time honored tradition of shuttling kids back and forth between school and other activities with some some men and woment who know how to do it right?

On September 17th, please join me for the Academy of Burlesque Alumni Spectacular: Back To School!

Photographs and Performance! Oh my!

by Violet 8. February 2011 08:24

Good evening, my lovelies!

You may have noticed that there are two new links on my little bungalow on the web. I've updated my Performance Schedule (and tacked a link there at the menu!) and I've organized photos from Gallow's Quest and made room for the photos that are coming for Candisa's Cabaret!

Candisa's Cabaret in review

by Violet 6. February 2011 17:56

Now that I've had a week to come down off of Candisa's Cabaret I think I can finally write about it and my experience producing my first show.

Let me give you the five-thousand feet view of the show: Stars and garters, it was amazing! Far more successful than I dreamed it would be.

Let me break that down a bit for you, dear.

We over sold the house and had to turn people away after putting out another row of chairs in the front and several people on the floor at the foot of the stage. We had ten performances and Jerome Virnich was our host for the evening. The audience was fantastically involved with the show. We couldn't have been more blessed.

  • Aaron Wheeler (The Magic of Aaron Wheeler)
  • Dahlia Ste. Cyr (Minnie Loves Mickey)
  • Peek A Boo Sunshine (Peggy Bundy)
  • Chesty La Rue (Love Stinks)
  • Sailor St. Claire (Hard Boiled)
  • Deseo Carmin (Forbidden Love)
  • Fran of the Red Tent (UnSeelie Self)
  • Violet DeVille (Breaking Up With Death Is Hard To Do)
  • Morgan LaMay (The Evil Queen)
  • Vixen Valentine (Secret)

My host, Jerome Vrinich, was on top of things and led the audience well. Katie Kat was fantastic, adding a little bit more tease to the show in between acts.

My crew was awesome as well, the unsung heroes of the evening. If it wasn't for them, we would've been sitting in a darkened theater and chaos would've been the melody of the evening.

It experience was so rewarding that I'm doing it again. Coming to the Jewelbox Theater on April 9th, "It Came From The Back Stage Door!"

Save the date! January 29th!

by Violet 3. January 2011 21:33

Save Saturday, January 29th, from 8:00pm to 9:30pm at the Rendezvous Jewelbox Theater!

Victorian Fetish Show recap and working the new ideas

Tonight, Mel and I reviewed my performance at the Little Red Studio's Victorian Fetish Show on July 9th. We went over the things that went well (engaging the audience, lighting, music knowledge, recovering from the hat incident, and prop usage just to name a few) and then we talked about what didn't go so well (the hat incident, stopping to let the audience enjoy the view, smiling more, and so on). Just for the record, the hat was not supposed to come off like it did and my recovering from it was good enough that few people realized it wasn't supposed to come off. Over all, I am very proud of the show I put on for the sold out house.

Now I have been tasked with developing two new routines. I'm three quarters of the way there now. What are they you might be asking? What kind of tease would I be if I told you? But I can give you a hint. One is very solidly in the steampunk realm about a mechanic, her boat, and the tools she loves to use. The other one? Let's just leave it at this: "The word is about there's something evolving."

What kind of act would want to see me do? I'd love to hear your ideas.

Doomsday is coming!

by Violet 27. February 2010 03:30

Well, perhaps we could say that my personal doomsday is coming, but we'll see how that goes. On Saturday, March 6th, sometime after 7:30 pm, I will be competing in the Emerald Rain Bellydance Competition doing a bellydance-burlesque fusion piece called, "My Post Apocalyptic Steampunk Strip Tease Minus The Strip Tease Because It's A Family Show". Naturally, I will be competing in the Persephone (Alternative) category.

At class last night, we worked the piece three times, trying things a little different with each go. It was the first night to use both the parasol and the respirator in the routine. That worked far better than I was expecting and I'm getting excited (if somewhat nervous) to hear what the judges, my friends, and my family think about it.

If you want to come out and see me perform, here are the gritty, little details.

The 2010 Emerald Rain Bellydance Competition
March 6th and 7th (I'll only be there on the 6th.)

At the Medallion Hotel
16710 Smokey Point Blvd
Arlington, WA 98223

The tickets for Saturday are $10.

So who's coming to the show?
